The news is proper depressing right now so what good stuff have we got to look forward to or what nice stuff is going on?

Cheer me up please.

  1. This showed up in my feed right below your post and I feel like it was meant to be.

An oldie, but a goodie. Say hello to Knickers the cow.

Edit: Knickers isn’t actually a *cow*, but a steer. Regardless, he’s a joy.

  2. The first aardvark was born at Chester Zoo recently (good pub quiz question, there)

  3. The first mixed race woman was cured of HIV a few weeks ago. I think that might be 6 people now?

  4. You probably didn’t see it in the news because I’m not a celebrity or anything, but the Mrs and I get the keys to our first house on Thursday. So that’s pretty cool

  5. Scientists have had a significant breakthrough in developing fuel based on bacteria.

  6. Czechia lifted their mask mandate recently, Georgia asked to join the EU, Drag race España season 2 started airing (and they say it’s good), European satellite Solar Orbiter took a photo of the sun with 83 million pixels

  7. In the Wales v Italy game in the six nations (just over a week ago) Josh Adams the welsh wing had been given the player of the match award by the TV pundits just before Italy scored the winning try. When the game finished he went over to the Italy fullback who setup the winning try and gave him the medal as he thought he deserved it more.

  8. Turn it off. I did several months ago and and know virtually fuck all about what is going on. The constant parade of miserable shite isn’t good for us and knowing about it changes nothing.

  9. This year will hopefully see the first space launch on UK soil!

I don’t think they’ve entirely determined if it’ll happen down in Cornwall or in Scotland (I can’t remember which Isle) but either way, a space launch! First it’ll be satellites but eventually people I reckon

  10. Scientists have found a new enzyme which breaks down the most common types of plastics, and leaves pretty much all else alone. More research to do but it could be an answer to some plastic pollution.

  11. It looks like after 2 years of trying and 4 canceled dates my fiance and I may actually get married!

  12. This is why I don’t read the news, it’s to fucking depressing. Unless it’s on my doorstep I couldn’t care less. Take in what’s around you, and go into the country side.

  13. Slow Horses is about to be released on Apple TV. Check out the books – wonderful stuff.

I like to think Jackson Lamb would be a secret Redditor. He’d certainly fit in with some of the UK subreddits.

  14. A polar bear cub that was born in the Highland Wildlife Park was finally given a name over the weekend.

    His name is Brodie. 🙂

  15. Listen our reality is what you make it, people don’t realise that getting absorbed in all the bad stories is a choice…

There is always art, laughter, spending too me with loved ones. That’s what’s important

  16. Some comedian got slapped or something for a joking about someone else’s medical condition in front of her husband.

  17. I signed up for The Happy Newspaper. It comes every 3 months and is full of good news stories from around the world. It’s very uplifting!

  18. Stopped watching the news altogether a year ago. Disconnected my TV aerial (stopped paying for that shite too) and only occasionally look at the occasional news story that someone sends me.

I feel a lot better and feel as though I’m no longer carrying the world’s problems on my shoulders. Is that selfish? Or do I have to care about all the problems in the world. I’ll let you judge.
