How much higher would our food prices be if we still had domestic agricultures worth mentioning, and relied on that for feeding populations primarily, instead of exports?

I enjoy high living standards as much as the next European… But still, the whole continent is a massive import guzzler on every front, and agriculture is definitely one such field.

We rely on importing food, while our own agricultures are barely kept alive, only by subsidies.

What would be the cost of increased food independence? How much higher would food prices be if legislation was in place forcing markets to buy up locally produced foods first?

Don’t get me wrong, i am not advocating for such , i am just curious what effects would radical measures to help European independence have.
