English is not my native language, I hope this is understandable

I rejected a guy from school because he was awkward, sounds like he’s mumbling when he speaks, and to me not physically attractive at all. He isn’t interesting, never knows what to say, doesn’t take interest in others

He could not take no for an answer. I ignored, but my friends told me everyone deserves closure so I pretended I had a boyfriend because I didn’t want to hurt his feelings & he got angry. I’m not asking for advice for this particular situation

But I am just wondering, if in general, would guys rather know why they got rejected even if it hurts? I’m not saying they should fully take in the women’s opinion, they still need to think whether the opinion is something worth to consider. Even if a guy asks for why, would it be better for women to keep their honest thoughts to themselves to protect themselves?

Sorry if this post might come across as insensitive, it’s a genuine question
