I have a colleague the same age as me (both female and in twenties) and we have both been allocated to the same site and we are the only people from our company we see full time. We both started at the same time. For months I always either asked or proposed we do something. She always had a reason for not being able to make it. Not once did she ever ask in return or propose another time. Because I felt so ridiculous to keep on asking I said that I would completely understand if she prefer we only catch up at work and not outside of work. She reacted saying that she is genuinely always busy. It has been months where we have been working together, sharing the same office, and I would assume that we have a very positive relationship. We joke around and everything and there had been a couple of occasions where we would open up to one another and have deep talk. However, she always says she’s busy when I propose we do something (without being specific about the actual day). If it’s via message she would respond to everything but would completely avoid responding to my proposal in meeting up. It’s a shame because I am really trying to understand her viewpoint towards me. How would anybody else interpret this?
