Hi everyone. I’m 26f working in the clerical side of a warehouse. I’ve got a male coworker a bit younger than me and we got along pretty well. EXCEPT I’ve noticed he may be developing a crush on me especially more now since he is going through a divorce and the constant compliments he keeps giving me. I’m a nice person. I can be an asshole outside of work and be my true self but for some reason I never could be at work and I’m really socially awkward here too. My niceness has my coworker thinking he can always confide in me with personal stuff he has going on (which is how I know he’s getting a divorce) and it’s fine, vent to me all you want but when it turns into flirting and awkward touching, I REALLY want to keep a distance from you because I’m no longer comfortable.
Some examples: he will weirdly grab my arm and ask how my day is, he’s gotten comfortable to where he thinks it’s okay to hug me (I could be sitting at my desk typing and he’ll come n freaking hug me!!), and whenever he’s in the warehouse working when it’s cold he will come and touch my hands and tell me how cold he is.
I’ve told my boyfriend who my coworker has also met on occasions when he comes to visit me at work. At first he laughed about it because he’s seen him and says he’s harmless but I told him it’s been getting out of hand IMO and he says I should really tell him to stop but I just don’t know how without being rude. I’m so uncomfortable and all I do is ignore it but I want to learn how to ask my coworker to please chill out before I snap one day.
Any advice is highly appreciated.
