What is one meal that holds the most significance to you?

  1. I once tried Georgian food, I liked it so much that I learned how to cook Khenkali and Khachapuri from video courses, some of my friends also started cooking them

  2. The first thought that comes to my mind is potato pancakes with sour cream, it always reminds me of home. The simplest thing, but always gets to my heart

  3. as someone from the south i would say chicken & dumplings,, or at least the way my grandmother would make them

  4. Breakfast. As I do intermittent fasting with 8 hrs eating window, I am generally starving by 11 AM.

  5. Broccoli casserole šŸ„¦ We only make it for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It’s become quite the tradition and everyone looks forward to it

  6. Matzo ball soup. It’s still my favorite food

My nana made it the best. She has dementia now so I don’t think I’ll ever taste hers again and no one else’s seems to taste the same

  7. I like making meatloaf because it’s one of the few things I remember my mom cooking, and I use her recipe. (She’s still with us, just hasn’t ever really cooked, to my memory.)

Also it’s not *a meal* necessarily, but I really like cooking veggies for my kids. They’re delicious when done right and I want them to know that. Stuff can be healthy *and* tasty.

Lol I don’t think I ate a vegetable until I was like 9 years old.

  8. Fried rice. I was an overweight kid and all I ate was fried rice growing up, which my family and relatives made fun of me for. Now that I am small, the thought of fried rice still makes me nauseous to this day and reminds of how much I have changed, inside and out (:

  9. My mom makes an incredible lasagna! I remember enjoying it so many times as a kid. I may request it for my bday this year. lol

  10. Scrambled eggs. Super simple but it was the first thing I learned to make myself. And after I was really sick for months my first solid food meal I could eat was scrambled eggs. So itā€™s like a new beginning food for me

  11. Chinese food served on a round table with a Lazy Susan. Dimsum, birds nest soup, birthday noodles, sweet n sour chicken, some fish and yang chow fried rice.

As a kid growing up we celebrated birthdays, graduations, etc in chinese restaurants. Eating in any even now brings me back to that much simpler, innocent time.

  12. Singapore chilli crab. Itā€™s my dadā€™s go-to dish for family events and celebrations.

He always makes two versionsā€¦ a light version for everyone, and an *insanely* spicy version so he and my half-brother can have their usual ā€œI can eat hotter food than you canā€ pissing contest lol

  13. Spaghetti and meatballs made by my Nonna (Italian grandma). When I was about 10 years old, my Nonna, Zia’s (aunts) and cousins all stood around the kitchen counter forming meatballs and crushing tomatoes. (And the adults drinking homemade wine) Three generations in one kitchen learning the secret family recipe and having a great time.

Nonna is now 93 and currently has Alzheimer’s and I cherish those memories.
Every once in a while she’ll become lucid and ask if she can make you anything to eat. šŸ˜
