I 30F have been seeing this guy(probs around 45) around the gym every time I go, around same hours but I was not particularly interested. I had my own personal problems and the main reason for working out was to improve my mental health so I strictly focused on myself.

I started to notice him working out near me all the time, staring at me while I was not looking and even mocking my exercises. Once we were in adjacent cable machines and I had my headphones off and he told me something in a very quiet tone sth like “I don’t really feel today”. I smiled and was gonna say sth but he did not look at me returned his work out immediately. There was nobody else that he might possibly talking to so it was weird. Another time he asked me if I finished with leg press. I said yes and on the way to grab a wipe and sanitiser to clean the machine, I checked to see if the other one was available and it was. I walked back, and when I am wiping off he laughed and said “oh, the other one was free as well”. I laughed and said its fine.

Fast forward today, he saw me when I entered the gym and within 10 minutes he rushed to the next part of the gym where I am working out but kept zero eye contact. I took the machine next to him but again, he seemed like intentionally was not looking at me. He even closed his eyes while doing bicep curls:) I was staring but we never caught eyes. In the end I gave up and went on treadmill, finished and sat for rest. He walked by in front of me while there was another wider path to stairs and then looked at me. I smiled and he smiled back with a big one.

I am now confused and worried because I had nothing for him in the beginning and now I feel attracted but he obviously not. Things reversed:(
I am against a woman asking out a guy since evolutionary reasons, men need to be leading. Otherwise they feel like you are an easy one and take you for granted in the relationship( talking from experience). I just want to know if he is interested or not, is there any way to find out without asking him out?

Ps: As you can tell, I am not a native English speaker, sorry for the mistakes.
