“Us [people like you and me] need to stick together, can’t trust anyone around here.” Anyone who says this to a doe-eyed newbie in any situation, will almost certainly be the one this newbie should trust the least.

What are some other common examples, in the interest of those of us who aren’t especially people-smart being forewarned?

  1. Short of being in a Western or something, that phrase shouldn’t be used in conversation ever. 1. Paints the person saying it as very distrustful/paranoid 2. There aren’t really any real life situations where a scenario where you can only trust one other person and no one else. Again, only in movies.
