For reference, graph [here](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GG7tGjvWYAAVyGh?format=jpg&name=medium). Divorce rates are half what they were in the mid 90s and the lowest they’ve been for about half a century (though obviously overall marriage rates are much lower than in the past).

It feels like people’s perception hasn’t caught up with this fact though. You still see and hear people talk about how divorce rates are high and rising.

So, what examples are there of things where the actual stats/facts are much more positive than the prevailing narrative suggests? Particularly interested in any that are like divorce rates, where narratives that were once true have stuck around, despite reality shifting quite a lot.
