What’s your favorite American car from the 90’s era?

  1. The only American car from I’ve ridden from the 90s was a 98 Lincoln Navigator. Pretty comfy seats.

  2. Small, relatively efficient trucks. 90s rangers and S10s, for example.

Couple of the Daimler era jeeps, too, particularly the XJ and TJ.

  3. GMC Syclone and Typhoon. I love weird performance cars. A small pickup that can dust a Ferrari 348 in the quarter mile. And then it’s weird SUV twin, who wouldn’t want that?

  4. Hmmm , it’s a tie between the C5 Z06, Viper, and notchback 5.0 Mustang.

*I’m going to throw in a 7.3 diesel Excursion in there just for funzies.

  5. It’ll probably be a while before I’m able to afford one if ever but the Dodge Viper GTS. The RT/10 model was a bit too suicidal for me

  6. Those early 90s Geo Tracker and Suzuki Sidekick mini jeeps were a lot of fun to drive

  7. Not American made but the 1998 Lexus LS400 was the peak of over-engineered for the price Japanese luxury. Bought one in 2001 and drove it until 2015.

  8. I’m ignoring the “American” part, there was too few in that era lol

    1995 Toyota Supra TT

    1995 Mazda RX-7

    1993 Nissan S13 (180sx or 200sx)

    1995 Skyline GT-R

    1998 Honda Prelude

But if I had to play by the rules:

    WS6 Firebird

    C5 corvette

    IROC Z-28, if they count

  9. When I was in college I had a 1992 Lincoln Towncar. That thing was a beast. It was more than enough space for me to move everything every year to the dorms and back. When it was empty it could do a burn out no problem. Also a comfy ride for the 6-hour each-way road trips back home on breaks.

Edit: For the price conscious, Neons, whether it was Dodge, Chrysler, or Plymouth badge. My GF had one with over 330k miles on it and still going strong until some kid crashed into it and ran it up a tree while she was at work. They are all gone now, but they were a solid high mileage car back then.

  10. I can ekk in with this one because a few were produced in 99. But Saleen S7. Followed by the Shelby series 1.

  11. I’m not sure I’d call it my favorite but I miss Ford Escort/Mercury Tracer compact wagons. Great mix of economy and utility, and with a five speed manual they were pretty hoonable.

  12. Those early 90s Volvo wagons were built like tanks. Shame Ford bought them and nearly ruined the brand.

  13. This may be bending the rules a bit, but i’ll go with my “one that got away” an Eagle Talon, specifically a red 1991 TSi AWD.

I had one. I loved it. It was originally purchased and owned by my grandfather. That was the first car I felt cool owning. I would do unthinkable things for another one.

  14. The one vans that had super Nintendo hookups and a place for your bubblegum

  15. ’99 GMC Sonoma. It was my first truck. Got it in high school, had my back through college, and died a year after I moved out on my own. RIP you rusty shit bucket.

  16. Dodge Dakota R/T

    Ford Lightning SVT

    Dodge Viper

There’s plenty I’m forgetting, but I’m tired. Buenos noches

  17. The Mustang Cobra, but I’m biased. I had a relative who worked for Ford back then.

One of their jobs was to take a freshly minted Mustang home, write a report, and drive it back the next day. Riding in a brand new black Cobra was an absolute gem of a memory, even with the plastic still on the seats.

  18. Ford Broncos.

I had been waiting 20 years for them to bring them back…only to be super disappointed.

  19. I had a 93 Toyota Corolla that I cherished.

My grandpa gave it to me when I was 16. I’m 29 now and I only decided to part ways with it three years ago. I’ve had a couple of really decent and new cars, but I often preferred to drive my Corolla instead. It had a little over 364,000 miles on it by the time I sold it.

I hit two deer and took it through a fence once (on separate occasions, obviously lol) and the most damage I ever sustained was a busted headlight and a flat tire. In fact, I only recently found out that when my wife went through a phase of wanting to learn about cars in our very early twenties, she haphazardly added unmeasured amounts of transmission fluid to the transmission *AND* its power steering. It didn’t phase the car though.

Honestly, sometimes I really thought it was going to outlive me. If I could find another one in relatively decent shape, I’d buy it in a heartbeat.
