If you want to ‘go private’ for healthcare what should you expect to pay?

I’m just thinking how affordable it might be.. let’s say I get diagnosed with cancer and the GP says ‘first treatment starts in 8 weeks’ and private hospital says ‘we can start in 3 days’ – would the private hospital want eg £10k before they start anything?
