I just want to start by saying that I love my MIL, she’s always been very sweet and accepting of me.
A few days ago, she texted my fiancé asking him about flowers and decor for the wedding and he told her that we’re already paying someone 5k to decorate the entire hall which includes flowers. This is something that I’ve told her months ago as well.
Today, my fiancé messaged me saying that my MIL went to the dollar store and purchased 35 $4 vases which cost her about $150. She didn’t even tell me what she was planning on doing and didn’t get my opinion on what vase I would like knowing I’m already paying someone to decorate for me. I wasn’t even made aware until she told my fiancé after she purchased everything.
It’s very strange and I would’ve never thought she would do that and it’s very frustrating. She could have at least asked for my opinion. The dollar store had nice stuff but what if the vases that she purchased weren’t what I’m looking for in terms of decor.
I’m not sure what to do. Not sure where to put 35 vases that I may potentially not even like. I don’t want to upset her but I’m scared of what she’ll do next if I don’t put a stop to it. I know she’s trying to help but it’s disrespectful to not get the bride’s opinion.
She has my number and has called me on multiple occasions so I’m not sure why she didn’t this time. It’s very strange and I don’t know what to tell her and not ruin our relationship.
