I’m not habitually late, but I have friends who sometimes run tardy. It’s never crossed my mind to ever place a dollar amount or a material object on their lateness – at worst I’d chew them out for a second but forget about it.
I was told recently by a friend that because I showed up late (with prior notice) to a hangout we’d planned, I owed them food or something. Is this common? I’m usually on time or early to social events and this is a new idea to me.
