Today I was cleaning out my passenger seat so I could drive my boyfriend of 4 years to work. For context, we live together and he recently crashed so I drive him to work until he’s able to get a new car. He had left one of his jackets in my seat and I noticed something silver fall out of it when I picked it up. I didn’t think much of it but when I picked it up I saw it was a septum piercing. He’s mentioned before that he thinks that type is piercing is really hot so I had looked into getting them before, which is how I recognized it without either of the balls at the ends.
Neither of us have any piercings besides my ears. I know he cheated on his last girlfriend (I didn’t find out until a few years into our current relationship, this has been a source of a lot of tension since I did find out) But I don’t want to jump to conclusions and cause problems where there aren’t any. None of our friends have septum piercings either, but one of his female friends that I’m not really in contact with does. I really don’t know how to handle this without sounding dramatic.

If you’re 100% sure it was a septum piercing, being dramatic is the least of your worries.
In my experience once a cheater, always a cheater. People like that rarely change
Having a septum piercing rod in his coat pocket is pretty odd, I’ll admit, but to jump to the conclusion that he’s cheating is almost more crazy.
Granted, you may be right. However, can’t imagine how and why it would end up in his pocket if he was cheating? How does that happen? They are making out, she takes off her jacket, and shirt… she’s about to undo her bra and says ‘oh jeez, how could I forget!” and proceeds to take out her nose ring. She then promptly realized her jacket doesn’t have real pockets (being a woman is hard) and asks your boyfriend to keep it in his pocket until they are done?
This would also require the both of them to forget she doesn’t have her nose ring in afterwards.
Maybe he was at her place and noticed a few of her piercings layed out on her dresser and stole one as a keepsake?
To me there’s probably a more reasonable explanation than cheating
