Hello everyone,

I came across a statistic today about the most expensive cities in terms of rent:

\- Amsterdam, Rome, Lisbon, Dublin, Paris, London all \~2000 USD for a single bedroom apartment.

I wonder how people can afford these rents, especially when people with an average salary and a family can’t afford them. I contrast to Zurich and Geneva with similar rents the salaries in Lisbon and Rome and Amsterdam do not compensating the rents.

Does anyone have any insights? My guess is that the rent have significantly increased in the last decade and most people have older contracts and therefore cheaper rents.
