my boyfriend(m21) and I(f23) have been together for almost 2 years and we have a new born together.
we got to talking about a couple we know who’s been together for like 8 years and are not married but still engaged.. (in my opinion that’s a long time to wait to get engaged) he then mentioned that he hopes i’m not wanting to get married because it won’t be happening any time soon. obviously we haven’t been together that long and i’m not ready to get married to him yet but to wait almost a decade before getting engaged? idk if i can do that! he then brought up that it doesn’t seem like a big deal and it doesn’t seem like it’s worth all the hassle failed marriages seem to cause!
this conversation kinda shocked me because when we have talked about marriage before he asked me when i would want to get married and i told him i think it would be special to have our son in the wedding so any time after he learned how to walk and my bf acted like he loved the idea.
He is also saving up to buy a house and he doesn’t want me on the lease, he wants his sister to co sign for the house because she has certain benefits.
i don’t know what to think, it feels like he just doesn’t really want to be with me but feels like he’s stuck.. am i overthinking everything ?
