I’ve heard this used in the South and Midwest, usually the South, and especially by grandmothers. I’ve known one grandmother to also nickname herself as “Sugar” because of this phrase. The whole family, mostly women, would call her Sugar instead of “Grandma.” I’m curious where that started or originated. Anyone have ideas?
