I work for a large company, however my direct team consists of around 40 people. We took on a group of new starts around 3 months ago, one of whom is “Anna”.

We are in Europe. I was born in a different European country and have a very standard European name, Anna is from outside of Europe, and my name is not there.

When you look at my name, it could be pronounced one of two ways (kind of like how Louis can be pronounced as “Lewis” if English or “Lou-ee” if French). Anna consistently picks the wrong one.

As I mentioned before, my team consists of around 40 people. Everyone pronounces my name correctly or if they are unsure they ask, however Anna keeps on calling me the wrong name every time despite hearing every other person calling me the correct name. A few of my colleagues did say they corrected her in private however she still uses her own pronunciation.

I hate causing a fuss over things but it does kind of get to me. At the end of the day, my name is my identity and I have made sure to ask how to pronounce her name as well, plus it’s just basic respect.

How do I approach this with her? It does bother me however I have buried my head in the sand for over 3 months so I’m not sure if it’s one of those things where it’s just too awkward to say it.

TL;DR: a relatively new coworker consistently mispronounces my name despite everyone else using the correct pronunciation, and a few colleagues taking her aside and gently correcting her. I have no idea how to approach this as it is starting to bother me and comes across as a bit disrespectful.
