I (24F) went on a second date last night with this guy (22M) that I’ve been talking to few a little over a week. First date went good, I had fun. Yesterday though, it’s like he got totally comfortable and changed. We went in a store and I was looking at this crossbody backpack thing. I really liked it and thought about buying it. However, he chimed in and said “that doesn’t cover your butt, put it back”. I asked him why it mattered, it was a bag. He told me men don’t care and they’ll look regardless. I will not lie, I got a bit mouthy after that, but I felt objectified and wildly uncomfortable. After that, he stayed silent for the majority of the date. After he dropped me off at home, he started this weird string of messages about how he shuts down when confronted and how I *need* to be patient with him.

I’m not going to lie, the bag thing really made me uncomfortable & it makes me afraid of what other things he might say or do if this goes on any longer. The lack of communication afterwards is just immaturity and insecurity. I don’t feel like it’s my place to hold his hand and help him learn how to communicate with someone.

Regardless, I don’t want to go on another date. I don’t think we’re compatible after this & I don’t want to drag this out any further. How do I approach this?
