Can they work? Do you ask for exclusivity or should you see other people? How long is too long between seeing each other? How do you support the person who is in the relationship?

  1. They aren’t for me, but I’ve seen other people be very successful at them. For me, I could potentially deal with it if it was temporarily necessary based on unchangeable circumstances in an otherwise healthy and happy long term relationship, but I’d never have chosen to engage in long distance from the start of a relationship.

  2. My personal opinion is this: if people truly love each other, then they cannot be away from each other. I remember when my boyfriend went to Germany for a week, it was as if I stopped breathing.
