Pain when trying to have sex

I can’t have sex because everytime I try, I’m not relaxed enough. I’ve seen my gyno and she told me I probably have vaginismus. I don’t know if this is because I experienced sexual violence in the past or raised in purity culture but no matter how wet i am, I’m not able to “open up”. Any tips?
