I was looking through [this list of ecoregions in Europe](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ecoregions_in_Europe) and I found it fascinating. Being from the western part of the [Pannonian mixed forest ecoregion](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pannonian_mixed_forests), the most common tree species here are the [common/English oak](https://www.bowhayestrees.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/800×800/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/c/o/common-oak-01_3_1.jpg), [sessile/Irish oak](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/89/Quercus_petraea_06.jpg/1024px-Quercus_petraea_06.jpg), [common hornbeam](http://www.bernheim.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Carpinus_betulus_Fastigiata_by_Line1.jpg), and [common beech](https://farm1.staticflickr.com/746/31281392523_5191c60771_o.jpg). The ther common species are [weeping willow](https://www.coldstreamfarm.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/willow_weeping_istock_80298053_xlarge.jpg), [European aspen](https://www.vrtlarica.hr/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/drvored-topola.jpg), [common alder](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/73/c1/f1/73c1f1dddc50238b1950fe7d56bf2052.jpg) and [silver birch](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8a/Betula_pendula_Finland.jpg), with the only somewhat “exotic”, or rather less common species being the [narrow-leaved ash](https://www.plantea.com.hr/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/poljski-jasen-4.jpg) and [Norway spruce](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/9d/Kuusk_Keila-Paldiski_rdt_%C3%A4%C3%A4res.jpg/1200px-Kuusk_Keila-Paldiski_rdt_%C3%A4%C3%A4res.jpg).

  1. Sicily has a very wide range of trees, many brought here by the various cultures that have colonised the island.

Citrus trees, olive trees and vines for wine are very common.Up in the mountains there are more types…oak trees, chestnut, beech etc.

Down here on the coast,we have plenty of palm trees.Palermo is quite famous for its ‘ficus’..particulary the enormous ‘Ficus Macrophylla’.There are also almond trees, lots of orange and lemon trees and lots of jacaranda in the city.

  2. The most common in the part of London where I live is the [London Plane Tree](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platanus_%C3%97_acerifolia). During the winter they lose all their leaves, and often have their branches cut back, so can look a bit stark. In the summer they are lovely though, with big branches and large shady leaves. Many of the roads in my area are lined with these trees, giving the area a nice green feel.

  3. SW Finland: birch, aspen, spruce, pine. Sprinkled with few maples and oaks in-between.

  4. I think the most common tree in my area would be beech. Second place probably goes to pine. That’s because a lot of forests in my area are used for wood production.

  5. Around my area it’s mostly birch, downy willow, alder, scots pine, oak, rowan and sitka spruce (non-native, logging/forestry)
