Hi! My name is Jillian, and I am a queer student at the University of British Columbia. I’m researching consensual nonmonogamy (CNM) and I am posting here in hopes to get a few 2SLGBTQIA+ participants to add to the diversity of my sample.
The proposed research seeks to understand societal and social factors that may influence a 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals’ willingness to engage in CNM. Previous research on CNM relationships has largely focused on motivations for engagement, attitudes towards CNM, and effects of CNM on relationship satisfaction and well-being. Previous research has noted a higher prevalence of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals engaging in CNM relationships compared with straight individuals, yet little attention has been given to the reason for this discrepancy aside from a simple categorization of an individual as straight or 2SLGBTQIA+. The aim of this research is to include individuals from a diverse range of gender and sexual orientation who lack representation in the current literature to generate a more well-rounded and inclusive picture of Western romantic relationship attitudes.
If you choose to participate in this study, you will complete an online, cloud-based survey using the Qualtrics Survey platform. You will be asked to answer a series of questions including demographic information.
**Participation in this survey should take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete**. You can leave the survey and return to it as needed.
**You will have the opportunity to win 1 of 4 $25 (CAD) gift cards.** After you have submitted your responses to the survey, you will see a hotlink you must click in order to be entered into the draw. You must provide a means of contact (e.g., email) and complete a skill testing question in order to be entered. The information you provide cannot be connected back to you in any way; it is only used to enter you into the gift card draw.
