I remember reading lots of articles during the Silicon Valley Bank bust about the large number of US banks. I just came across this graphic: [https://www.visualcapitalist.com/the-worlds-top-50-largest-banks-by-consolidated-assets/](https://www.visualcapitalist.com/the-worlds-top-50-largest-banks-by-consolidated-assets/) . I noticed how small the US banks (by asset size) were in comparison to some other countries in terms of size of economy / population.

I know that it is super common in the US (depending on location) to not bank with one of these banks. Even outside of credit unions and savings associations, I feel like most people including myself bank at another bank (to be fair I have multiple accounts at multiple banks / credit unions based on the type of account) rather than one of the large ones.

So I am curious, how common is it for the average person to bank with one of the major banks in your country? Also, do people commonly have multiple banks depending on account type? (For example credit unions are popular for car loans in the US but are not popular for mortgages).
