I’m nearing the end of an epic biography of Napoleon (Napoleon: A Life, Andrew Roberts) and I’ve become obsessed with planning future holidays around seeing sites that are still visible around Europe, mostly pertaining to the wars & battles (my wife is going to love this news).

Is there something near where you live that’s worth seeing? Things like the Tuileries in Paris are already on the list, but are there any forts where battles were fought, palaces where he stayed on campaign, church towers where he surveyed the fighting, etc, still intact and that have signs of his presence?

I live near the geographical centre of Europe, so any suggestions from Portugal to Moscow are welcome and appreciated!
