Got a new job can’t say no to, which means taking the huge risk of leaving a job (and people) I love. Going to hand in my notice soon, what are some nice things I can do? Have thought of giving more notice period than required, working hard until the end, offering to help out even after I’ve left etc.
Really worried I might hate my new job and realise I want to go back. What are other ways I can make sure we leave on best terms?

  1. Just resign in a professional manner and complete any obligations or tasks required of you in the manner your employer would expect if you were not leaving. Don’t offer help beyond your last day. If anyone asks directly why you are leaving tell them you have an opportunity you don’t want to miss. Let the employer know if they wish to contact you in future that they can

  2. The best thing you can do is resign professionally, but also make sure that every task you do is fully documented and handed over to a colleague.

That way the business doesn’t hit any problems when you’ve gone.
