I graduated college 4 years ago and back then my friends used to joke about how I could have a great conversation with anyone, even if they had nothing in common with me.

Fast forward to now after years of running a business alone and COVID, I seem to have lost my skillset and anytime I do try starting a convo with a stranger I’m met with awkwardness from the other side.

I’m not really socially anxious but my skills are more than a little rusty. I still do great connecting 1-on-1 in a professional setting with clients.

I don’t need theory or more reading on what to do. I just need daily practice. I am ready to put in the work to fix this.

Current ideas;

1. Joining active clubs (I.e. running clubs, etc)
2. Getting a part time social job (bartending)
3. Pick one day a week to practice talking with strangers

Any more ideas from all of you? I’m sure I’m not alone in this and I’m highly optimistic this is a skill that can be rebuilt.
