My sister in law is trapped in an abusive relationship. Recently her husband went to jail for pulling a knife on her, and it looks like he won’t be getting out anytime soon. This is not the first time he has lashed out in a violent manner towards her and their kids. There have been several incidents I can recall and EVERY SINGLE TIME her dad (my father in law/my wife’s dad) has told her that “you knew who he was before you married him you need to stay with him and help him out”. He has talked her out of talking to lawyers and everything.
I cannot for the life of me understand why a father would say that to their own daughter who is being abused! Keep in mind, he and my mother in law got divorced for very similar circumstances. Is it because my father in laws see similarities in my sister in law’s husband? I need opinions!
