Here in the United States, support for direct democracy is not particularly associated with the left or the right – it may be even considered slightly left-wing. But when I’m researching European political parties, I’ve noticed that a lot of right-wing or even far-right parties express support for direct democracy. Some examples include [Freedom and Direct Democracy in Czechia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_and_Direct_Democracy), the [Democrats and Veterans Party in the UK](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democrats_and_Veterans), and the [Conservative People’s Party in Estonia.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservative_People%27s_Party_of_Estonia) Why is this the case?
