Is it? When I think of a lighthouse my brain goes to like a small lighthouse in Maine or the like.
Hwhut?
Is it? I always associate lighthouses with Maine, Massachusetts… basically New England.
[Uh…](https://youtu.be/Lpf9e9fGUYs?t=4)
It is definitely not.
I didn’t know that it was. News to me.
The Great Lakes are more known for lighthouses than the West Coast
It is? News to me. If you like lighthouses you should come to the Great Lake State, we’ve got the most.
It’s not lol
Life long Californian here. We are not. At all.
It is?
I think of Michigan when I think of lighthouses. Or like, some quaint picturesque area in Maine.
Portland Head Light is the most photographed lighthouse in America. I definitely associate lighthouses with New England.
Well guys guess I was wrong in my assumption. Appreciate the different perspectives. I’ve personally always associated lighthouses with the California west coast along highway 101. Maybe because of San Francisco, not sure. Thanks for taking the time to answer! 🙂
I really didn’t realize they had them on the west coast till very recently. The east coast has so many inlets and old fishing towns, I’d bet it has like 10x more at least
Michigan has something like 115
It’s not. East coast lighthouses are way more well-known.
Since when? I think east coast, especially New England when I think of US lighthouses.
There’s not many lighthouses on the west coast.
When I think of lighthouses I think of Cape Cod and the Outer Banks. Didn’t even occur to me that the west coast has them lol
Fake news
It isn’t.
The tallest lighthouse in the US is in the outer banks of North Carolina.
The most iconic light house in America is in New York (Statue of Liberty).
Uhhhh it’s definitely not….
Yer fond of me lobster ain’t ye?!? Say it!
Guys maybe OP is just confusing east with weast. They do sound alike.
It’s not.
It’s not?
Is it? Maybe it’s just me, as a New Englander, but I can actually name a slew of lighthouses, and most media I can think of featuring lighthouses are east-coast.
I kinda associate lighthouses with Maine
The Outer Banks is the best area for lighthouses.
The Outer Banks is the best area for lighthouses.

I disagree with the premise of this question.
We’re not known for our lighthouses.
Is that a typo?
From what I can find California only has like 30-35 lighthouses left. Maine has 80 and Michigan has 129.
Its literally the opposite of what you say.
I don’t think this is true at all.
I don’t know where you get this impression.
The Outer Banks would like a word.
I think of New England and North Carolina for lighthouses, but I suspect that most coasts have lighthouses so you’ll tend to think of the closer ones…
Maine, Outer Banks, Florida, there is even one off the coast in South Carolina. I’d say the East Coast wins.
100% I think of New England or like Michigan when I think lighthouses.

I only think of the east coast with regards to lighthouses.
I don’t think it is, at least not to americans
I go Great Lakes, personally.
I’ve lived on both coasts. The west coast is not more known for lighthouses. At all.
