I recently moved into a pretty small city in Canada with about 50k people living here. I’m 17 but do online high-schooling so I literally know nobody in my city. I’ve been biking to a gym lately but barely have any interactions expect maybe with the owner sometimes. I’ve also been biking to the library but there’s not many people there. I’ve been thinking of waiting in the library for some kids my age to come in and somehow ask them if they wanna hang out, but I don’t really see many people here. Its usually either children or adults and not many of them.

And before anyone suggests events, I’ve attended two which were held by the library. A board game/ps4 event and a chess event which happen once a week. But again, only 4-5 children are there and adults. I had some decent conversations with the adults but I’m looking for people more my age. And the bigger events all cost money and require tickets, which I think need to be purchased online.

I also went on the city discord/reddit but no luck there, as again its pretty empty. And honesty it’s a little scary meeting up with someone from reddit. I am a minor so its a little daunting as well.

Anyone have any suggests at all as to what I should do to meet kids my age?

I could always go to parties but like how would I even get invited and where would I even find out.

Btw if I had to, how would I start up a conversation with someone I just met. It always feels awkward. With chess I just focused on the game and said some things here and there but if I only had to talk to someone randomly, any advice?

Thanks in advance.
