My (27F) partner is in his 30s and leads a relatively sedentary lifestyle due to his job and hobbies (techie who works from home and loves gaming). He has unhealthy lifestyle habits (refuses to exercise, late-night snacking, irregular sleep cycle and insufficient sleep) and has a pot belly despite not being overweight (his waist-hip ratio is >1, which increases his health risks).

I’m a doctor and am worried about his health, but there’s a conflict of interest as I don’t want to ‘mother/doctor’ my partner. How can I inspire or motivate him to take small steps towards improving his health/fitness for the sake of his own long-term health and our family’s future?

Men who’ve been in a similar position but changed your habits, what made you change? And what are some practical steps/advice you would offer him?

Thanks! 🙂
