We got married 2 years ago and I thought for sure I wanted to take my spouse’s last name when we got married so for my new name, I used my spouse’s last name as my own last name. But the whole process of changing EVERYTHING in the right order is overwhelming and now I want to keep my maiden name. This has nothing to do with my spouse but I just don’t want to change everything anymore because I don’t think it’s worth the time.
We live in CA. I read somewhere we might need a court order to change a name on the marriage certificate. Is that true and has anyone done this before? Or can I just go on forever without changing my last name and have it wrong only on my marriage certificate?
