Five years ago, my friend (33) texted me (33) and I straight up decided I didn’t want to be in contact with her. Reasons being were because she kept talking about herself and never reciprocating interest in my life or struggles. Any time we met up, she would talk about how sad she was being single, how hard it was to find a job or passion in life, and how she wanted to do things like drink or party, but her mom wouldn’t let her. She was sheltered and all those conversations about *her* just made me stop responding to her.

One day she texted me what she thought about her boy crush issues and asked why I didn’t respond. I told her I didn’t use the texting app anymore and she stopped texting me for the next five years.

Fast forward to now, I got a text message from the same app (i have it downloaded but only use it to contact family overseas). She asked me if I’m still in the city I live in and how I am. I haven’t responded. Should I keep things where they are and not respond? Her text is so random after five years. I feel like she’s going to ask if I know of a job opening or going to brag she’s met someone to marry.

tldr; My ex friend of five years randomly contacted me how I’m doing. She’s the type to talk about her issues only and not ask about me. I got fed up and stopped contacting her. Should I respond to her text?
