A few examples….

My friend with schizophrenia texts randomly, asks how I am and then disappears and doesn’t typically reply back.

Added a bunch of old friends on facebook, 11 left it pending – 4 months later.

Online fan accept fan donations but stopped replying to dm and does it to all.

A worker stopped replying to message on Facebook they didnt upload all their work and stopped replying even though they had payment. She said that she was struggling with things – stress.

Online partner can take a day to reply, she has some things going on in her country (maybe this is normal and acceptable)?

Many people do reply and be normal, but I get annoyed with those that don’t as the above examples. What you think? What is going on?

  1. People have their own lives going on and you aren’t entitled to always receiving a response at all, let alone at the speed you personally want.

  2. No one owes you a response, and no one owes you an add on FB. Your friend with SCHIZOPHRENIA certainly does not owe you any more interaction than he’s giving you, he has a lot on his plate to deal with. Start thinking of the moments you do get to interact with them with gratitude and counter those negative thoughts. This may seem harsh but I used to be like that and it’s draining to be around, you don’t ever want people to feel obligated to reply to you.

ETA – as for the people who essentially ghosted you after receiving payment, yea that’s fucked. Don’t think you have a case for the donation as it’s a donation but you are definitely in the right to take that worker to the cleaners for not delivering on work you paid for. Just go a little easier on your friends.
