I’m also an American without pets. My story is that I come from a conservative immigrant family and having animals in the house is something my family would never want. I moved out the house and still don’t have pets. I have nothing against pets, I just don’t want to spend extra money to supporting a living organism that’s completely optional to have. I also travel a lot and am concerned I can’t give them a good life being away so much.
