I have an acquaintance who is very overweight. She frequently brings it up in a self deprecating manner, eg “fat girls like me can’t wear that!” Or, in a conversation about what men like, “Do guys find fat rolls sexy? Cos then I’m the sexiest girl alive ha ha ha”
I’m not sure how to respond. I usually pause awkwardly then move on. A few times others have answered with, “oh girl you’re beautiful” type comments but that’s not really my style.
What is a polite, kind, non awkward way to respond when someone talks like this?
