I find it fairly easy on a first date in the beginning, as it should be, I’m meeting a new person, we don’t know each other, there should be a lot to talk about. However after the first two hours I often find myself not having a lot to say. And the conversation stumbles on to a bad place where it becomes interview mode where I think that I’m just asking surface level questions. I’m having problems taking the conversation to a more relaxed more meaningful place. If this doesn’t happen on the first date and I get a second date, it usually happens on the second date, and once it has happened there is no date after that. This is quite the conundrum for me, how do I get better at holding conversations on dates and making the conversation more relaxed?

I can add that this is sort of a problem that I have with people in general who I’m not already friends with. With my friends everything is easy I can talk with them for hours like nothing. But with new people it often becomes interview mode and therefore i honestly find it difficult to make new friends as well.
