I’ve gotten close to a friend (25M) from the same grad program as me (25F) through a couple of shared classes. I’d say we’re not super close, but have definitely bonded and had some deep conversations (about family, careers, etc). He’s in a long term committed relationship, which we’ve also talked about (I’m also acquaintances with his partner). I know that he’s going to be in a different city from me over the summer (various research trips) but he asked to share locations with me. I usually only share my location with close friends and family. Considering that we’re likely not going to hang out this summer, is this a weird ask from him? I’m unsure how to gauge it, since maybe he’s more casual about his location and shares it pretty openly with friends.
I don’t intend to share my location as a boundary thing and for respect to his partner, but I was just looking for some insight and to see if this is actually a weird ask.
