Tonight i drove over a pot hole on approach to a speed bump in the road. I wasn’t going fast, maybe between 5-10mph. I slowed down, during going over it i felt my car dip to the left and a scraping sound. Stopped my car asn reversed it and stepped out to have a look at saw the pot hole and the damage to my vehicle. I live in Birmingham so will be attempting to claim damages from the City Council. My car was purchased only two months ago or less and is in immaculate condition other than this damage now. I paid £22,000 of my hard earnt money and i’m gutted. The speed bump has noticable scratches and cuts in it so this suggests to me this pot hole & speed bump issue has been damaging cars for a while. Photos will speak for themselves. Has anyone has any experience claiming for pot hole damage from their council? What information should i consider including? The road which it happened has been neglected, there is many pot holes and overall road condition is so bad in the surrounding area too. I’m not hopeful and i’m expecting them to fob me off by saying it’s not been reported to them before but by speaking to others in the area that pot hole has been there for a long while and given that the whole road is awful surely this is neglect.
