Seriously wondering if a healthy marriage exists. Or if being married means being miserable for the rest of your life.

I grew up around extremely unhealthy marriages where the cultural mindset is “divorce is not an option” but it’s set me up to think this dysfunction is normal. My parents and grandparents visibly hate their spouses and spend as little time with them as possible.

Every time I come on reddit I seem to only see negative posts and it’s really making me feel like marriage is only worth it for raising children.

I am married, no kids, moderately healthy relationship but still lots of incompatibilities and conflicts. We go to couples therapy and our therapist says we have the healthiest relationship she’s seen these days but marriage still feels like a constant battle.

Is this just the way it is, or can anyone share “I’ve been married 30 years and my self worth is still doing great”

EDIT TO ADD: It’s only been 15 minutes and these responses are already so lovely. Thank you for the shares and keep them coming ❤️
