My ex-wife and I got married on Halloween, had a big costume wedding and it was just so much fun for everybody.
We ended up divorcing 5 years later, but it was amicable and we’re still besties, so I still look back fondly on it.
Going to see my father during summer vacations. It was because his parents always took a cottage on Russell Island in Michigan for a couple of weeks in June or July. I LOVED that place! For a kid, it was magical! No cars; no cell phones (then) and the place was so small I could go anywhere on my bike.
When I was maybe six, we went to my grandmother’s house Christmas morning. I have a lot of cousins on that side of the family and my grandmother always got super into Christmas and spoiled us. That morning, we all walked in and couldn’t even see the six foot Christmas tree behind the wall of gifts she’d got us all.
I don’t remember any of the gifts but I remember the magic feeling it gave me. I miss her.
