I (25m) don’t know if this will be received well or not. I’m ethnically Indian but live in the west

I have done fine dating wise as I take all the basic advice. Lifting weights, grooming, being sociable, etc

Having said that, I am struggling with my identity in the sense that I kind of feel like I’m doing well *in spite* of being Indian

I’ve seen other groups of people get fetishised a bit. I’ve seen lots of girls specify that they like black guys and intentionally seek them out. White guys are pretty much fetishised all around Asia. East Asians now have their K pop. Arab guys are seen as manly, Hispanic guys seen as romantic etc

But Indians, Ngl, we are seen as really uncool. I’ve never once seen a woman say that they like Indians as a type. I’ve seen it for every other type of guy, but not Indians

And tbh I’ve seen how Indians from India act, they’re often seen as uncool and are a bit bumbling

I’ve read accounts of how Indians get confused for other races but then the excitement leaves the girls face once they realise they’re Indian. I myself have been confused for other races (although I personally think I look Indian, I think the confusion probably stems from me being 6’4 with lighter skin. And you usually don’t get Indians that tall). Altho I can’t personally say I’ve witnessed girls lose interest when I reveal it

Anyway yeah I am feeling that I am having to work extra hard to overcome a stereotype if anything
