So I (F22) and my bf (M28) have been dating since 2022. We have always discussed about moving away from Kentucky to a different state since we started dating. We decided that once I graduate college, we can move to Louisiana or Texas. Well I just graduated this month and I got a job offer in Louisiana.

I told him I got the job and he told me that he wants to stay in Kentucky while his brother starts and finishes college. My boyfriend is Congolese and his family is still working on getting his visa for schooling so they aren't sure exactly when he will start college. My problem is he does NOT have to stay with his brother. He keeps claiming that he doesn't trust his brother so he wants to stay in Kentucky for 4-5 more years while his brother gets through college. Solely for the purpose of "watching him"

My friends keep telling me not to because I'm 22 and my life shouldn't be on "hold" while waiting for a man. My parents said no because they think he's really not committed to me because he went from moving away with me to holding off on it SOON as moving became a reality. But he offered to do long distance so I don't see why he would ask me to do long distance if he just wanted to end our relationship.

I guess I'm basically just what would you suggest for a 22 year old girl to do? Is 4 years realistic for a long distance relationship if we’ve dated for almost 2 years ?
