Telling a guy I like, that I just want to be friends

This guy I’ve always thought was cute since I was in middle school (now we’re both 26) asked me out. I find him attractive, but we both just recently got out of 4+ year relationships and I have a daughter. I would love to hang out with him just as friends, because he’s a pretty cool guy. I don’t have many friends and it would be nice to hang out with someone on my free weekends. But how should I tell him I would like to just be friends? Any advice is greatly appreciated 🙂
