Let's assume one works in Basel, Switzerland but lives in Mulhouse, France. I would assume you would be paid with a Swiss Salary in Franc, sure, but does the money go into a French bank account or would you have to set up a Swiss account as well? And what would happen regarding your work pensions when you retire? Plus would you need ID on you outside of a drivers license?

Also how much did/does the Schengen Zone impact the nearby towns in regards to commerce and living costs?

Forgive me if it's dumb, but the whole concept of land borders, let alone working and living between two is a foreign concept for me.

I'd love a more in depth discussion for daily cross-national workers or people right on borders.
