I've been living in the US for over a decade and only this weekend was I shocked to hear for the first time that it's not common to do a full body check to screen for genetic disorders, carrier, any sort of diseases that you could possibly pass down to your kids.

Is this true that it's just uncommon? Not required by law? Where I'm from it's very common for both to do a full body check, even for same-sex couples. And especially if you want to have kids, we would talk to the Dr to see if there are any diseases or if we are carrier of any diseases that we may pass down to our kids etc.
