I prefer crime shows where you do not know the criminal right away. I like the suspense of not knowing who did it and trying to figure it out along with the characters on the show.

Where you do. How else do I know who to root for
It mostly depends on the point of the show. If the solving of the crime is the point than I prefer not to know. But if the show has a bigger story going on and the crime solving things is essentially the framing device of the show I don’t really care.
I like shows where the criminal is the protagonist
Well columbo is the greatest crime show of all time and they show you who did it in the opening, so there you go.
The detective did it.
I never got the appeal of a show that spoils whodunit from the get go.
