It happened few times with one of my closest friends, but also one or two times with someone not that close. Usually I was talking to them while walking on a street and they’ll shout ” wait stop , look!” And pointing out something on a street, sometimes to an architecture, sometimes to a group of people dressed differently.
While I’m being annoyed that they interrupted me but I also appreciated they let me see something they interested on the street, but I didn’t enjoy even once what I was seeing because the annoyance over past whatever the “interesting things” they pointed out. After that I usually just dont resume the conversation unless they indicated they want me to continue.

Does it happen to you? What would you do ?

  1. “Oh wow yeah, that’s a cool dress,building,etc/some sort of comment about what they’re pointing at, followed by – anyway, as I was saying blah blah blah” If I see something really cool mid convo I usually go “omg sorry but look at that” and then we might say a comment or two about it and then I go ”what were you saying now again?” to bring it back to the friend. I do think it’s a bit rude if they never make an effort to follow up

  2. In my mind, something that will go away soon is priority in a conversation over whatever we’re talking about. So that includes everything you’re talking about and I just go back to the previous topic, or not if the time isn’t right. But I’m a big accidental interrupter so I have to be understanding when other people do it
