Questions to ask

I met this dude. I try to get details out of him about his day and some random questions. I’ll talk about my day. We can have some of a conversation but then he told me that he’s not great at conversation. I feel like once we find something it can get the ball rolling but there is still the struggle. Our conversations are mainly simple. What are good questions to ask ( serious or random) ?
